Sprint – National Employer Recruiting Spotlight

At Sprint, we’re more than just talk. We’ve changed the way people communicate, how they work and how they are connected on the go.

Entering the Sprint headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas feels like stepping onto a college campus with many buildings comprising the headquarters and giving it a “campus” feel. Sprint’s campus recruiting program focuses on summer internships across a variety of business units including:

  • Business Sales/Support
  • Information Technology/Network
  • Finance
  • Marketing

Their summer internships are paid, 10-12 weeks in length and provide an opportunity to contribute to real business solutions. Overland Park, KS and Reston, VA house the majority of Sprint’s Corporate Center, IT, and Network functions, but opportunities exist coast to coast in their Business Sales and Customer Care organizations including but not limited to opportunities in Dallas, Chicago, Denver and various locations in California.

The internships are structured and robust with interns receiving exposure to senior leadership, community service opportunities and professional development with brown bag lunches and the like. Sprint provides an excellent opportunity for students to practice skills acquired in school and gain real world experience in their job function. Successful interns do have the potential to be considered for full time positions.

Sprint is a Fortune 100 company and has a very corporate feel. In turn, they seek interns who have a professional presence and are able to handle themselves effectively in a corporate environment. They typically seek candidates with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and students who will not ultimately require sponsorship (some exceptions made for students with strong technical skills). For candidates coming from TCU, we recommend writing a cover letter to enhance your application and to communicate why you are interested in an internship with Sprint. See the current posting on FrogJobs for additional information on responsibilities and targeted majors for various internships positions.

Sprint recruits primarily for summer interns in the fall with offers being extended mid-November. There is the possibility that other internship opportunities may become available and posted in the spring. Current postings are available on FrogJobs, but expire 10/18/2013 so take a look and apply ASAP, if you are interested.

As always, contact your Career Advisor for advice on how to best position yourself in your application to Sprint. Call 817-257-2222 to make an appointment.
