Job Opportunity: Principal Research Lead with APQC

APQC is seeking an intellectually curious and experienced principal research lead to engage APQC members in ground-breaking research yielding valuable, relevant content. As the thought leader in Supply Chain Management, the principal research lead combines primary and secondary research skills with solid writing, presentation, and client interaction skills to develop research topics. The principal research lead shapes and scopes the research agenda and then disseminates the results as broadly as possible.

Responsibilities:

  • Distill insights from multiple primary and secondary sources to identify strategic and foundational research topics for APQC’s research agenda, looking within and across core business functions and in specific industries
  • Engage APQC members to test and provide feedback on research and content topics
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in a defined area of expertise for research projects, content creation and dissemination, and in support of other APQC departments including marketing and sales
  • Present APQC thought leadership at external and internal conferences, webinars, and other presentations
  • Participate in APQC conference planning and associated speaker selection, as relevant
  • Review all content in area of expertise for substance and quality
  • Write selected high-profile content items, including white papers, PR and external articles, blogs on APQC’s site, and content-related newsletters
  • Mentor team members
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5-7+ years of professional business research or program management experience
  • At least 5-8 years of work in or experience in Supply Chain Management (preferred)
  • College degree in relevant field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Demonstrated research, analysis, and writing abilities
  • Strong project and program management and relationship management skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Understanding of business structure, improvement, and decision-making needs within large enterprises
  • Ability to form solid opinions based on research
  • Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability in the face of change
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Solid written and oral English
  • Some knowledge of Associated Press (AP) style helpful (but not required)
  • Knowledge of APQC products, services, and methodologies a plus
